Jet Pass Fk Zone is a jet sweep fake out of Pistol Doubles Y Off that turns into a quick pitch style pass to the flat. The diagram shows the motion man selling the jet sweep across the formation while the outside receiver on that side releases and arcs upfield after the fake, with the offensive line sliding to protect the edge. This is a zone beater designed to attack flat defenders and outside linebackers who bite on the run fake, and the primary read is the receiver breaking outside off the jet action into open space before working vertical up the sideline.
Watch for flow defenders such as the strong side linebacker and outside cornerback biting hard on the jet motion, which signals the flat throw will be wide open Cover 3 and Cover 1 defenses that key run flow are most vulnerable since underneath defenders vacate the flat chasing the fake Zone shells with disciplined flat defenders such as Cover 4 or Cover 2 can sit on this route and jump the pass before it develops Look for a user controlled linebacker staying home in the flat instead of biting, which is the biggest sign this play gets shut down Post snap, track the deep safety leverage since a fast rotating safety to the play side can close the window on the vertical stem after the catch
Use pre-snap motion to identify if the defense flows hard with the jet man, which confirms zone or man coverage that overplays the run
Call this against light boxes and safeties creeping down since the fake forces flow defenders to commit before the ball comes out
Hot route the backside receiver into a quick hitter or slant if the defense shows a hard rotation to the jet side, giving you a built in answer versus overplay
Pair this with HB Zone or Zone Fake Jet earlier in a series so linebackers respect the run action, making the flat route pop open faster on this call
Best used on early downs or third and short where defenders are more likely to sell out on the jet sweep look
