The route diagram shows a classic Spot triangle to the closed side: a corner route stretching vertically to the boundary, an underneath hitch or flat sitting outside, and a spot route working underneath into the void between them, while the backside receiver runs a wheel/corner combo up the numbers. This is a zone beater built to attack Cover 3 and Cover 4 by stacking three levels into one flat zone defender's landmark, with the primary read progression going flat to spot to corner as you climb the levels based on how the underneath defender reacts to the motion.

Watch the flat defender at the snap, if he widens with the underneath route the spot route sitting behind him becomes an easy user pickup for a lurking linebacker Key the corner or safety over the top, aggressive Cover 3 corners jumping the flat route open up the corner route for an explosive gain Diagnose Cover 4 quarters shells by checking if the outside cornerback stays deep on the vertical stem, this forces the quarterback to check down to the spot route quickly Watch for a nano blitz off the edge since the orbit motion can leave the protection unbalanced if the offensive line does not adjust the slide protection Look for a user controlled defender sitting in the shallow crossing lane, that lurk technique can jump the spot route and bait a turnover if the quarterback stares it down

Usage Tips

Use the pre-snap motion to identify if the defense is playing man or zone, if the defender follows the orbit man across the formation you are getting man coverage and should target the wheel route on the backside

Attack Cover 3 by reading the flat defender first, if he sinks with the corner route the spot sits open underneath for an easy completion

Hot route the backside receiver to a slant if you see Cover 2 shells since the wheel can get squeezed by a hard flat defender rolling up

Use this on second and medium or third and short since the spot route offers a high percentage completion underneath the sticks

Pair this call with Mesh Spot or Bench Z Spot from the same set to keep the defense guessing on similar formation looks while changing the stress point of the coverage
