Defensive Reads

Pre-snap, identify if the defense is showing a run-heavy front with linebackers crowding the line, since that alignment gets exposed hard by the throwback action. Usage Tips

Sell the play fake by holding the ball fake button through the animation so linebackers and safeties bite on the run action before the Y releases on the throwback. Use this on early downs like first or second and short to medium yardage when defenses expect HB Blast, HB Power O, or HB Lead Dive out of this same I Form Slot set. Watch for run blitz alignments pre-snap such as stacked linebackers or a safety creeping into the box, since those defenders will be out of position once the Y crosses the field. Pair this call after running HB Power O or HB Blast a few times in a drive to condition the defense into keying run, then punish overaggressive linebacker flow with the throwback. If the user drops a defender to spy the Y crosser, check down to the comeback route on the far side or the short flat route underneath for a safer completion.
