Use this against offenses that live on deep in routes and dig routes over the middle since the Mike linebacker's deep seam drop takes away that throwing window that regular Cover 2 leaves open.

Call this on third and long or in two minute situations where you expect the offense to attack vertically down the middle of the field with posts or seams.

Pre-snap, identify if the offense is running four verticals or a stack bunch look, since the seam runner can be tough to disguise your Mike's drop against if the tight end releases immediately up the pipe.

Combine this with Cover 2 Man and Cover 2 Invert in your play-calling sequence so quarterbacks cannot key on the flat defenders sitting versus a true Tampa 2 shell every time.
