Eagles Defense and its sibling cut, NFL Live Eagles Defense, are functionally the same playbook. They share all 374 of this book's plays and differ by zero sets, so there is no hidden formation or exclusive call on either side, and you can pick whichever is on your menu without losing anything. At 374 plays across 9 formations and 25 sets, Eagles Defense is larger than 67% of the game's 64 defensive team playbooks, which gives you plenty of depth for building audible packages.
The identity is clear: this is a sub package book first. Nickel alone carries 181 plays (48%) across 10 sets. Dime adds another 57 (15%), and Dollar chips in 12, so roughly two thirds of the playbook keeps five or more defensive backs on the field. The 3-4 is the main base look at 63 plays (17%) across 5 sets. The 3-3-5 (21 plays), the rare 2-5 (15 plays, found in only 12 of the game's 236 playbooks), Goal Line (13), 4-3 (6) and Prevent (6) round out the menu as situational tools rather than every down fronts.
The concept list leans hard into single high and pressure: Cover 1, Cover 3 and Cover 3 Match sit alongside Corner Blitz and LB Blitz tags. Scheme Fit
Eagles Defense wants a secondary deep enough to live in Nickel and Dime: at least three quality man corners, a rangy safety who can play robber or single high, and linebackers with enough speed to carry crossers in the 3-4 and 2-5 looks. It rewards players who like to call aggressive Cover 1 and blitz packages from DB heavy fronts and are comfortable user controlling a robber or spy. It is a weaker fit for someone who wants a traditional 4-3 base or a soft two high shell on every down.

Strengths
- Nickel's 181 plays across 10 sets let you stay in one personnel grouping against 11 personnel while still rotating Cover 1, Cover 3 Match, Quarters and blitz looks, so opponents cannot read your call from formation subs alone.
- The rare 2-5 front (only 12 of 236 playbooks carry it) gives you an alignment most opponents have not prepped for, which is useful for disguising pressure and confusing pre-snap reads and hot route checks.
- Deep sub package depth (Dime at 57 plays and Dollar at 12) means you can stay with six and seven DB looks on third and long without running out of calls or repeating the same shell every snap.
- Double Wr1 and Double Wr2 bracket concepts plus Cov 1 QB Contain Spy give you direct answers to a single dominant receiver and to scrambling quarterbacks without having to user a spy manually.
- The 3-4's 63 plays across 5 sets are a real base package rather than a token one, so you can match 12 and 21 personnel with a legitimate front instead of being forced into light boxes.
Weaknesses
- Only 6 plays each in the 4-3 and Prevent leave you with almost nothing in a traditional four man front and very little for end of half situations, so opponents running under center power can pin you into the 3-4 or Goal Line.
- With roughly two thirds of the book in Nickel, Dime and Dollar, opponents who sub into heavy personnel and run downhill can punish your light boxes before you have time to sub out.
- The concept list is heavily single high (Cover 1, Cover 3, Cover 3 Match), and two high answers are limited to Cover 4 and Quarters, so smart passers can key on the middle of the field closed look and attack it with seam and post combos.
- The 2-5 and 3-3-5 offer only 15 and 21 plays in a single set each, so if you lean on them for disguise, a patient opponent will see the same few calls repeat and learn your tendencies.
- Goal Line has just 13 plays across 3 sets, which gives you thin variety on the goal line against offenses that mix quarterback sneaks, play action and jet motion.
Usage Tips
Build your base audible package in Nickel since it holds 48% of the book: pair a Cover 1 Robber Press style man look with a Cover 3 Match zone call and a blitz for first and second down against 11 personnel.
On third and 6 or longer, sub into Dime and use 0 LB Cross Games type pressure or a Double Wr1 bracket to take away the offense's favorite target, then save Dollar for third and 10 plus.
Against 12 or 21 personnel on early downs, switch to the 3-4 and use its 5 sets to keep a legit front on the field. Do not stay in Nickel and let the run game dictate.
Mix in the 2-5 on second and medium as a change up front. Its rarity means opponents often misread the pressure, but limit it to a few snaps per half so the 15 play menu does not become predictable.
Use Cov 1 QB Contain Spy on passing downs against mobile quarterbacks. Keep the contain on and user the deep middle yourself so rollouts and scrambles do not beat your man coverage.
