Beware of run blitzes or nano blitz packages that fire off the edge before the shift resolves, since the extra gap presence can blow up the play before blockers get set.

Usage Tips

Watch the defensive front before the shift, if the defense adjusts its alignment to follow the motion you know they are playing assignment football and the cutback lane will likely open up.

Use this on early downs (first or second and short to medium) when defenses are more likely to respect run action and stay in base personnel rather than sub packages that key sweep runs.

Avoid calling this into stacked box looks with extra linebackers or a defensive line shifted hard to the play side, since the numbers advantage disappears and the sweep gets strung out for a loss.
