The outside receiver from the bunch bends into a corner route while the middle bunch receiver runs a snag (quick hitch) underneath, and the third bunch man works a shallow flat route to the boundary, creating the classic high low low triangle read. On the backside, the lone receiver runs a deep dig across the field as a hold or alert route against zone rotation, while the running back checks release before working to the flat as a fourth option, giving the quarterback a full field progression from the corner to the snag to the flat. This is a zone beater designed to attack Cover 3 and other zone shells by stretching the flat defender and hole defender vertically and horizontally at the same time.

Defensive Reads

Watch the strong safety and outside linebacker leverage on the bunch pre snap, a defender sitting flat footed inside signals a possible robber or hole defender ready to jump the snag route. Post snap, track the flat defender's first two steps, if he widens with the corner route the underneath snag window opens instantly for an easy completion. Beware disguised Cover 1 or Cover 0 looks where a defender walks down late into the bunch, this play loses its rub advantage against true man coverage without a switch release built in. Look for a linebacker spying or blitzing through the A gap, since the running back's late release into the flat is your answer against interior pressure. Versus Cover 3, identify if the cornerback carries the corner route deep or sinks, a cornerback staying shallow leaves the deep corner wide open as the true first read in the progression.

Usage Tips

Pre snap, identify whether the defense is showing zone or man match by checking corner depth over the bunch, tight bump alignment usually signals man which turns this into a natural pick concept.

Key the flat and hole defenders after the snap, if the flat defender sinks under the corner route throw the snag hitch immediately for a quick, safe completion.

Use the backside dig as your answer versus Cover 3 rotation to the bunch side, since the middle of the field opens up when the strong safety flows toward the trips.

Hot route the running back into a flat release versus known blitz downs to give yourself a checkdown against pressure looks.

Pair this with Stick or Spacing from the same set to keep the defense honest on quick game reads, then mix in Verticals or Mtn PA Deep Over to punish teams sitting on the underneath triangle.
