Breakdown

PA Jet Sweep out of Singleback Bunch TE sells the jet motion and outside handoff fake before working into a play-action passing concept off the run fake. Off the fake, the backside receiver runs a deep corner route up the sideline, one bunch receiver breaks on a deep in that crosses the field, another works a shallow drag underneath heading opposite, and the tight end runs a delayed flat/swing route out of the backfield area to the sweep side, giving you a built in checkdown. This is a play-action man beater at its core, since the crossing in route and flat route create natural separation against man coverage while the corner route stresses zone defenders who bite on the run fake, and the primary read progression starts with the deep in cutting across the middle, moves to the corner route on the backside if the safety bites down on run action, and finishes with the flat route as the outlet against pressure.

Defensive Reads

Watch linebacker depth and flow at the snap, if they crash hard toward the jet motion side you have a wide open crossing route and flat route on the opposite side. Identify single high versus two high safety shells pre-snap, single high defenses are more vulnerable to the corner route once the safety commits to run support. Man coverage with no safety help over the top gets exposed by the deep in route working across traffic from the bunch alignment. Zone coverage that keeps linebackers at normal depth without biting on the run fake can sit in the shallow drag and flat window, so be ready to climb the ladder to the deep in or corner instead. Watch for a user controlled defender sitting in the shallow zone or lurking near the flat, that defender can jump the drag or flat route and bait a mistake if you do not go through the full progression.

Usage Tips

Use this on early downs in run heavy sequences so the jet sweep action has already been established and defenders are conditioned to bite on the fake.

Check the safety depth pre-snap, if you see a single high safety cheating toward the box on run support, take the shot on the deep in route or the backside corner immediately after the fake.

Against man coverage, key the deep in route since the crossing action creates natural rub leverage and separation off the traffic near the bunch.

If the defense shows aggressive linebacker flow toward the jet motion, hot route the flat or drag underneath into a quick throw to punish overpursuit.
