SFT Mtn Stack Shake N Up runs from a Trio stack look with pre-snap motion, showing a five-man route concept built to attack the deep middle and sidelines simultaneously. To the stack side, the outside receiver runs an out breaking route while the motion man crosses underneath into a shallow drag, creating a natural pick and separation window against man coverage. On the backside, the isolated receiver runs a deep comeback along the boundary while the two remaining routes from the trio climb vertically up the seam and break outside toward the corner, stretching zone defenders both deep and wide. The primary read starts with the seam to corner breaking route up top, then works down to the deep comeback on the backside if the safety rotates over the top.
Pre-snap, check the cornerback aligned over the isolated backside receiver, if he is playing off with outside leverage the deep comeback is live all game. Watch the safety depth before the snap, two high safeties suggest this play can work but the QB must read the corner breaking route underneath the deep half. Post-snap, key the flat defender's reaction to the motion man, if he sinks with the shallow drag instead of widening, the seam to corner route behind him becomes the money throw. This play struggles against aggressive man blitzes where a user spy or lurk defender sits in the shallow drag window, since the underdeveloped drag route has no time to separate before pressure arrives. Cover 3 with a hard flat drop and deep third rotation to the trio side can take away both the drag and the corner breaker, forcing the QB to hold the ball and check down late.
Use the pre-snap motion to identify man versus zone before the snap, if the defender follows the motion man across the formation you have a strong indicator of man coverage and can lean on the shallow drag as a hot man beater.
Against zone shells, prioritize the seam to corner breaking route since it settles in the void between the flat defender and the deep half safety.
Save this play for second and medium or third and medium situations where the defense is more likely to sit in zone coverage rather than blitz, since the deep comeback and corner breaker both need time to develop.
Pair this call with SFT Mtn Stack PoCo or SFT Mtn Stack Salem Y-Out earlier in a drive so the defense has seen similar stack action and motion, then hit them with the deeper shots here once they start jumping the shorter combinations.
If the user drops a defender into the shallow drag lane, immediately climb your progression to the deep comeback on the backside since that route is isolated against a single defender.
