Usage Tips
Call this on early downs or third and medium when the defense shows pressure looks or a nickel/dime blitz package, since the delayed handoff exploits linebackers and rushers crashing upfield.
Watch pre-snap for stacked box counts or blitz indicators like linebackers creeping toward the line, since draw only works if defenders are selling the pass rush.
Pair HB Draw with RPO Peek Slant or RPO Zone Peek from the same set to keep the defense honest, forcing them to respect both the quick game and the delayed run action.
Avoid calling this against zone-drop heavy coverages like Tampa 2 or Cover 3 with disciplined linebackers who sit and read, since they can fill the draw lane before the back gets started.
Use play-action passes like PA Read or Y Corner from this same formation earlier in a drive to condition the defense into biting on run action, making the draw hit even harder later.
