Bunch Y-Flex is Shotgun's compressed 11 personnel look that stacks three receivers tight to one side while flexing the tight end off the line, giving you a true bunch cluster without sacrificing a legitimate route runner at the Y spot. Unlike wider Shotgun sets that spread the field horizontally and force isolation reads, this set condenses the defense into a small box, which makes press man nearly impossible to execute cleanly and turns every crossing route into a natural rub. The single receiver on the backside gets a genuine one on one, so if you have a speed threat at SLWR or a physical X, you can attack that side with the Smash Return, Dig Return, and Branch Return concepts while the bunch occupies the coverage rotation.
Read the leverage of the defender over the bunch pre-snap: if he is inside shading, hit Flood or Smash Return outside, if he is outside, run Spacing Switch or Curls Y Swirl inside
On third and medium, Speed Dig, Speed Dig Out, and Switch Mills all break at the sticks and beat both zone and man once the rub clears
Hot route the point man in the bunch to a drag or slant when you see a blitz look so you have an immediate outlet before the pressure arrives
Use HB Slip Screen after two or three deep dropback calls to punish an aggressive user rushing the passer, and pair it with the Gadget looks like Jet Pull Shallow to keep the defense honest
In the red zone, Redzone Crossers and Choice Shallow Dig let you win with traffic instead of raw separation, which matters when the field is compressed and there is no room for vertical concepts
