Mtn Inside Post is a motion-boosted man beater out of Shotgun Bunch Y-Flex with 11 personnel. The bunch receiver runs a jet motion across the formation before the snap, drawing linebacker or nickel eyes and clearing space for the inside post that breaks hard toward the middle of the field. Underneath, the backside X runs a flat/out route while the remaining bunch receivers work a deep vertical wheel and an underneath crosser, with the offensive line in a five-man pass protection to hold up against pressure. The primary read is the inside post attacking any single-high safety or man defender who gets rubbed off the bunch, with the shallow crosser and flat route as check-down options if the post is capped.
Defensive Reads
Watch for a defender trailing the jet motion man pre-snap, which confirms man coverage and tells you the post is live. Two deep safeties sitting still through the motion signals zone coverage, so look to the crosser or flat route underneath instead of forcing the post. If a linebacker or safety sinks into a deep middle hole zone drop, the post window closes and you should check down quickly. Watch the edge for a blitzing defender since the protection is only five man, and get the ball out fast if you see extra rushers. Cornerbacks pressing at the line on the bunch receivers is a strong indicator of man coverage, which favors the post over the top.
