This is a gap and edge speed run designed to attack overaggressive fronts and out-leverage defenses that are slow to trigger on flat motion, with the primary read being the edge defender and alley support (safety or corner) rather than any route progression.
Defensive Reads
Key the play side defensive end and outside linebacker pre-snap, if they are sitting wide or crashing down hard on motion the edge is already compromised. Watch for a slot corner or safety rotating down into the box before the snap, which signals the defense is keying jet sweep tendencies and will blow it up for a loss. Call this out of tempo situations like 1st and 10 or short yardage when defenses expect a pass, since the jet motion often freezes second level defenders for a split second.
Pair this with Jet HB Power and Zone Fake Jet from the same set so the defense has to respect both the sweep and the play action off identical motion, forcing linebackers to hesitate.
Against defenses that key motion and crash hard, mix in PA Jet Sweep to punish overpursuit with a boot or play action shot downfield.
Avoid calling this into stacked boxes with extra defenders on the edge since the blocking scheme cannot consistently win those numbers battles.
