Usage Tips

Use this on run-heavy downs like 2nd and short or 1st and 10 when defenses are more likely to load the box with base fronts instead of nickel or dime packages.

Pair Power Read with Shovel Option or Triple Option Lt in the same series to keep defenders honest on the mesh point since both plays punish overaggressive edge defenders the same way.

If the defense shows heavy blitz pre-snap with linebackers crashing downhill, keep the ball on the read since blitzing defenders are often out of position to contain the QB on the edge.

Mix in RPO Peek Slant or RPO Zone Peek from the same set so linebackers hesitate on run reads, opening up bigger lanes for Power Read once they start sitting back.
