Shuffle Levels is a levels based passing concept out of Shotgun Split Slot Open, built to attack zone defenses with a high low read on one side while giving you a natural man beater crossing element on the backside. The route combo stacks an intermediate in cut underneath a deeper crossing route, forcing linebackers and safeties to choose which level to cover. Your primary read progression starts with the shallow underneath route to see if a linebacker sits, then climbs to the deeper crosser working away from the flow, with the backside route as your final checkdown against blitz pressure.

Defensive Reads

Identify the middle linebacker's depth and drop angle immediately after the snap, since he is the conflict defender the levels concept targets. Watch for a sitting flat defender or curl to flat defender, if he stays in the shallow zone that signals it may be time to climb straight to the deep crosser. Check safety rotation pre-snap, a two high shell that rotates late to single high can jump the deep crossing route if you are late with the throw. Use this play on early down and medium distance situations, it is not a pure conversion play but it manipulates zone defenders enough to pick up efficient chunk yardage.

Pair Shuffle Levels with Shuffle Double Spot or Shuffle Snag N Go in your sequencing, since all three share the Shuffle formation shift and keep the defense guessing about which level combo you are running.

Against teams that show heavy Tampa 2 or Cover 3 buzz, key the middle linebacker's drop before committing to the deep crosser read, since he is the primary defender the levels concept is designed to conflict.
