Off the fake, three receivers push vertical stems: the outside X runs a deep comeback breaking back to the sideline, the slot Y clears out on a deep post that bends across the middle, and the backside receiver runs an out breaking away from the formation, while the shallow crosser underneath sits as a check down option along the line of scrimmage. This is a play action shot play designed to hit zone beaters over the middle and deep comeback windows against man coverage, with the primary read starting on the deep post to the middle of the field, working back down to the comeback route if the safety rotates over the top, and checking down to the shallow drag if both are covered.

Defensive Reads

Watch linebacker depth and width before the snap, stacked linebackers who creep toward the sideline are keying jet action and will bite on the fake, opening the post. Identify single high versus two high shells, single high defenses are more vulnerable to the deep post since the free safety has to respect run fits first. Post snap, track the flow of the second level defenders, if they step up hard into the box on run action there is a natural throwing lane for the post route. Look for a user controlled defender sitting in a lurk spot over the middle, since the post route is the primary read a smart user player will sit right in that window to bait the throw. Cover 3 with an aggressive jet sweep force defender crashing down can be beaten easily, but disciplined cover 4 shells that keep defenders in their zone drops without biting on the fake will squeeze the passing windows and force the checkdown.

Usage Tips

Use this on early downs like first or second and short to mid distance so the run fake actually holds linebackers and safeties honest.

Check safety alignment before the snap, if you see two high safeties sitting deep the post is going to have a tougher window so prioritize the comeback route on the boundary.

Motion the jet man across and watch the linebacker or slot corner flow with him, if they bite hard on the sweep fake the deep post will come open in a hurry.

Pair this with actual Jet Sweep or Zone Fake Jet earlier in a drive so the defense starts keying run fits, then dial up PA Jet Sweep to punish overaggressive linebacker flow.

If the defense shows single high after the run action, work the deep post first since the extra underneath defender is occupied by run fits, and if they show two high work the comeback and shallow drag combo instead.
