Jet Pass Fk Zone is a jet motion boot action pass out of Shotgun Normal Y Off that dresses up like a jet sweep run but pulls up into a play-action style throw. The diagram shows the receiver motioning across the formation on the jet path while the QB fakes the handoff and the line executes zone blocking to sell the run action, then the receiver releases outside and up the sideline on a wheel style route. The primary read is the outlet man on the jet motion once he clears the line, with the QB looking to hit him in stride on the boundary if the run fake freezes the second level defenders.
Pre-snap, check the alignment of the corner and safety to the jet motion side, if they stay disciplined and do not creep toward the box the fake is already being read. Look for linebackers who flow hard downhill on the jet action, that overcommitment is exactly what this play is designed to punish with the boot release up the sideline. This play struggles against zone shells that keep the flat and deep quarter defenders home, since disciplined zone drops will not bite on the run fake and can squeeze the sideline throw. Man coverage with an aggressive nano blitz off the edge can beat this quickly, so if you see blitz indicators pre-snap consider hot routing the motion man into a quick option or checking to a faster developing throw. Post-snap, track any user controlled defender who stays home in the flat instead of following the fake, that lurking defender is the one who can jump the route and turn it into a turnover.
Use jet motion pre-snap to bait linebackers into flowing hard toward the sweep side before you snap it, since the fake is only effective if the defense actually respects the jet sweep tendency you have built earlier in the game.
Call this after you have run actual Jet Touch Pass or PA Jet Sweep a few times so linebackers and safeties start keying the motion man and bite on the fake zone action.
Watch the play side safety and flat corner at the snap, if either one sits flat footed or crashes down on the fake zone run you have a wide open throwing lane to the sideline release.
On third and short or in the redzone this works well because defenses are more likely to sell out against the zone run fake, opening up the vertical shot down the numbers.
Pair this with Same Side Zone or Fake Jet HB Seam in your play calling sequence so the defense cannot key on the jet motion alone and has to respect multiple constraint plays off the same look.
