Double Go out of Shotgun Y Off Trio Wk sends both outside receivers on vertical go routes up the numbers to stretch the deep secondary, while the backside iso receiver runs a solo go route straight up the seam/sideline. The middle trio receiver breaks outside on an out/flat route as a quick outlet, and the running back releases into the flat opposite the trio side for a checkdown option. This is a pure man beater designed to isolate cornerbacks on islands and hit big plays over the top, with the primary read progression starting at the single receiver go route on the backside (or whichever CB shows the worst leverage), then working to the two go routes on the trio side, and finally checking down to the RB in the flat if both verticals are covered.
Identify single high safety looks (Cover 1 or Cover 3) pre-snap since this play thrives against man coverage with only one deep defender to help over the top. Watch cornerback press alignment: if corners are playing off man or bail technique, the go routes take longer to separate and the window shrinks. Post-snap, key the deep safety's rotation: if he stays flat footed or bites on play fakes, the backside go route will win outright. Beware Cover 2 or Cover 4 shells with two deep safeties, since both go routes get bracketed and this play stalls out unless the flat route or RB checkdown is used. Look for user-controlled defenders sitting in the deep middle or lurking underneath, as a smart user can rob the inside seam and force you to live with the shorter flat route.
Use this play on 2nd or 3rd and long when you need an explosive gain and defenses are more likely to sit in single high shells.
Check the pre-snap safety alignment: if you see one deep safety, target the go route away from safety help since that corner is on an island.
If the cornerback shows off coverage or heavy cushion, this play loses value fast, so hot route the flat/out receiver into a quick hitter or check to a run.
Pair this with Curls Combo or Stick from the same set to keep defenders honest on shorter routes before hitting them with the double go shot play.
Use play-action rollouts or Orbit PA Cross earlier in a series to bait linebackers up before dialing up Double Go against a defense expecting run action.
