Slants Middle out of Shotgun Spread Dbl Flex is a quick-hitting man beater built around a double slant concept from the trips side combined with a shallow drag from the flex tight end. The backside outside receiver runs an under route (drawn in red) that crosses the field flat and settles as a scramble/coverage adjustment outlet, while both inside trips receivers break on quick slants into the middle of the field to attack linebacker and nickel leverage. This is a pure pass play with no play-action or RPO elements, and the primary read progression starts with the inside slant closest to the ball, works to the second slant, and checks down to the crossing under route if both slants are covered.

Usage Tips

Fire the ball to the first inside slant as soon as you see man coverage leverage outside because the route separates instantly off the line

Use this on third and short or second and manageable, the quick timing beats blitzes before pressure arrives

If you see two high safeties presnap, expect the slants to have a clean throwing lane underneath since the middle of the field is open

Pair this play with Quick Slants or RPO Peek Slant from the same set so the defense cannot key on the double slant look every snap

Hot route the flex tight end into a shallow drag if you diagnose zone coverage, it gives you a built in answer against Tampa 2 or Cover 3 sink drops
