Breakdown

PA Fk Leak Divide Shot is a play-action shot play out of Shotgun Normal Y Off Wk that sells the run fake before attacking the deep middle and sidelines. The diagram shows three vertical stems: the outside receiver runs a straight go route up the boundary, the inside receiver breaks off a skinny post into a corner-ish divide route up the seam, and the tight end runs a leak route out of the backfield area, releasing flat before turning upfield outside the numbers. The primary read progression starts with the seam divide route working the middle of the field, then works to the leak route on the perimeter if the safety rotates over the top.

Defensive Reads

Watch for two high safeties rotating down after the snap, which signals zone coverage and means the seam divide route becomes the primary window before the rotation closes. If the defense shows Cover 3 with a single deep safety, the outside go route is your best answer since the corner is often working with less deep help. Identify linebacker depth before the snap. Shallow linebackers biting on the play-action fake open up the intermediate seam read immediately after the run fake. Look for a user-controlled defender sitting in a lurk position near the seam, since that is the main threat to the divide route and will bait you into an interception if you force it. Aggressive blitz packages that bring extra rushers off the edge get exploited by the tight end leak route working outside quickly as a built-in answer to pressure.

Usage Tips

Use this play on early downs or in play-action friendly situations like second and short where linebackers are more likely to bite on the run fake.

Check the safety alignment pre-snap. Against two high shells the divide route into the seam has room to work before the safety can rotate down.

If you see man coverage indicators like tight press corners, prioritize the go route on the outside since it is a pure man beater against a single high safety look.

Hot route the tight end leak route into a quicker flat break if you are facing a hard blitz look, since it doubles as your outlet against pressure.

Pair this shot play with Fk Leak Outside Zone or Inside Zone from the same set to keep defenders honoring the run action, then hit this shot play once they start jumping the zone runs.
