Mtn PA Flood HB Leak is a play-action flood concept out of Shotgun Normal Y Off Wk that is built to attack Cover 3 and other single-high zone shells. Post snap the offensive line sells run action while the HB leaks out to the flat as a checkdown leak route, the inside receiver runs a deep corner route up the numbers, and the outside receiver stacks his route on top of it with a deep overload wheel to the same side, creating a true three-level flood on one half of the field. On the backside the TE runs a deep dig across the middle while the WR clears vertically up the seam, giving the QB a two man crossing read away from the flood if the boundary is jumped. Defensive Reads

Recognize Cover 2 or Cover 4 shells pre-snap, since two deep safeties can bracket the flood side and force the QB to work the backside dig or crossing route instead. Look for blitz packages that bring extra rushers off the edge, the play action fake can slow initial pressure but a fast contain rush can still disrupt the QB before the flood routes fully develop.

If the corner sinks and the flat defender widens with the HB leak, hit the deep flood route behind the corner for an explosive gain, especially on second and long or obvious pass downs.

Against man coverage, the HB leak becomes a quick answer versus blitzes since it releases into the boundary immediately off the play fake, giving the QB a fast outlet against pressure.

Pair this play with Mtn PA Spot or Mtn Inside Zone earlier in a series so the run action and flood look condition the defense to bite on the fake, setting up bigger shots later in the game.
