Watch for a stacked box with linebackers crashing downhill immediately after the snap, which signals a run blitz designed to beat gap schemes like this. If the strong side defensive end squeezes hard inside, key the wing TE seal block and expect the ball carrier to bounce outside the tackle. Check safety depth pre-snap: a single high safety usually means the box is loaded for run support, while two deep safeties can mean lighter run fits but more space to work. User-controlled defenders flowing hard to the play side can be exploited by the backside cutback lane if the offensive line holds its blocks long enough. Odd or bear front alignments with defensive tackles shaded into the play side gaps are the toughest look for this play, since they clog the double team lanes before the fullback or lead blocker can get through.
