Franchise Playsheet
The Shark is a 40 play defensive playsheet built on a three formation spine: 4-3 (15 plays, 38%), 4-2-5 (14 plays, 35%), and Dime (11 plays, 28%). That is a nearly even split between base run defense and sub package coverage, and it is larger than 79% of the game's defensive franchise playsheets, so you get depth inside each family instead of a wide, shallow menu. Each formation carries exactly one set, which means the whole book is playable out of three looks you can memorize in an afternoon and disguise for four quarters.
The Shark wants a four man line that can win one on one, because the book has no odd front and every pressure package (LB Blitz, Safety Blitz, Casino Blitz) is built off that base four. You need two rangy linebackers with high zone coverage and play recognition to make the 4-2-5 half of the book work, plus at least three corners and a nickel or big safety with man coverage and press ratings to justify living in Dime 4-1-6 on third and long. Pick it if you are a user defender who calls coverage by down and distance, disguises with pre snap shifts and hot routes, and prefers three deeply stocked formations over a sprawling menu you never learn.

Build your primary audible package out of the Base 4-3 set and use it on first and second down with seven or fewer yards to go, where Cover 1 Contain gives you edge integrity against play action rollouts while you user a hook defender.
Make Big Nickel 4-2-5 your default on second and long and any third down between six and ten yards, since Cover 2 Hard Flat out of that set squeezes the sideline throws that beat single high looks.
Save Dime 4-1-6 for third and eleven plus and two minute situations, and pair Cover 4 or Quarters with the Safety Blitz and Casino Blitz calls so you show the same six defensive back look on both the pressure and the coverage.
Because each formation has one set, disguise comes from pre snap adjustments rather than new alignments: shift the line, pinch or spread the linebackers, and hot route a corner into the flat before the snap so your Cover 3 and Cover 6 calls do not look identical.
Rotate between all three formations inside a single drive rather than riding the 4-3 block, otherwise you hand an opponent the read on 38% of your playbook by the second series.
