Defensive Reads

Identify user controlled defenders shooting gaps immediately after the snap, this is the biggest threat to outside zone timing. This run struggles against gap exchange stunts and heavy blitz packages that bring extra defenders off the edge before the line can climb. Nano blitzes and overloaded fronts on the play side call for an audible to the backside cutback rather than forcing the run into traffic.

Usage Tips

Check the box count before the snap and only run this into light boxes with six or fewer defenders in the tackle box.

Use the wing alignment to identify if the defense is shifting run support toward the play side, and flip the play if the strength is overloaded.

Manually control the HB post snap to press the line of scrimmage and locate the natural cutback lane if the playside gets clogged.

Best used on early downs, second and short, or in four minute offense when you need to control tempo and stay on schedule.
