PA Boot RT is a play-action rollout out of Singleback Wing Pair that pulls the offensive line to sell run action before the quarterback boots to the right edge. The route concept builds in a deep crosser, an intermediate out or comeback, and a flat/check down option to give the QB a full flat to deep progression on the move. This is primarily a man beater since the rollout gets the quarterback outside the pocket and creates natural throwing lanes against man coverage defenders trailing from initial run fits, though it can also punish zone if the flat defender bites on the play fake. The primary read starts with the deep crosser working across the field, then works down to the intermediate breaking route, and finishes with the flat route as the checkdown if everything is covered downfield.

Defensive Reads

Identify the flat defender first, if a linebacker or slot corner sinks with the deep crosser instead of jumping the flat, take the underneath route immediately for a easy completion. Watch for user controlled defenders spying the rollout lane, since good users will crash the edge to force the quarterback back inside where he has no protection. Check for Cover 3 sky or buzz shells, since the flat to curl defender in these coverages tends to widen with the boot and opens the intermediate window.
