Flex Y Off Wk is Shotgun 11 personnel with a weak side tilt: the tight end aligns off the line inside the numbers to the weak side while the flex receiver widens the strong side, and the back sets in the gun next to the QB. That off ball alignment matters more in Madden than most players realize. The Y is not covered up by a tackle, so he releases clean on every snap, and defenses that check to man have to decide whether a safety, linebacker, or nickel travels with him. Compared to tighter Shotgun sets that bunch the tight end to the line, Flex Y Off Wk spreads the second level horizontally before the snap and gives you legal motion options to identify man versus zone without burning a timeout on guesswork.
The play list is built around RPO volume. RPO Peek Slant, RPO Glance Post, RPO Zone Peek, RPO Zone Alert Glance, RPO Power Peek, and RPO Read Screen all live here, which means you can run the same run blocking shell (zone, power, read) and let the peek receiver punish a defense that crowds the box or plays soft man over the slot. Layered on top of that you get real dropback concepts: X Dagger and Z Dagger for high hole shots, Four Verticals with the seam runner, Smash for Cover 2 and Cover 4, Double Post, Curls, Double Slants, and Flanker Spot as the underneath answer.
The matchup angle is straightforward. Put your slot weapon (the SLWR tag exists for a reason) at the flex spot and your best receiving tight end at the Y, then force the defense to cover both with linebackers and a nickel on the same snap. Isolating the off ball Y against a slower man defender is the cleanest one on one in the set, and the 3DRB tag means your pass catching back has real value on HB Slip Screen, PA Jailbreak Screen, and hot route flats out of empty looks. Run game support from Inside Zone Split, Outside Zone, Counter Y, 0 1 Trap, HB Draw, and Y Lead Read Option keeps the set balanced enough that opponents cannot just sit in dime and user a deep zone.
Read the safeties before every RPO. Two high with the box lightly manned means take the give on RPO Zone Peek or RPO Power Peek; single high with a crowded box means pull and throw the glance or peek slant into the vacated hook window.
Motion the flex receiver to identify coverage. If a defender travels across the formation with him you are in man, so live on Double Slants, Sluggo Seam, and the isolated Y route. If defenders pass him off, go to X Dagger, Z Dagger, and Smash.
Third and medium belongs to the off ball Y. Hot route him on a slant or drag and let the free release beat linebacker coverage inside the numbers, then use Curls or Flanker Spot as your backside answer when the defense drops a user into that window.
Establish Inside Zone Split and Counter Y early so PA Read, PA Slide, and PA Go Slot Cross actually hold linebackers. Play action from this set only pays when the opponent has been forced to respect the weak side run.
Against heavy blitz users, block the back and hot route the Y to a flat or check the HB Slip Screen and PA Jailbreak Screen. Blitz heavy opponents vacate the perimeter, and one screen conversion usually forces them back into base pressure for the rest of the drive.
