RPO Buck Sweep Peek is a run/pass option out of Shotgun Doubles Offset Wk that pairs the buck sweep run scheme with a peek route tacked on to a receiver so the quarterback can pull and throw off the read defender's reaction. The offensive line pulls the backside guard and tackle to lead the HB around the edge, while the peek route gives you a vertical shot if the read defender crashes down on the run action. This is an RPO first and run play second: your primary read progression is the alley or box defender assigned to the peek key, and if he steps up to fill the run lane you pull and throw the peek immediately, otherwise you hand it off and let the sweep develop.

Usage Tips

Check the box count before the snap, if the defense is showing six or more in the box the peek throw is the higher percentage call

Identify whether the peek defender is a linebacker or safety, linebackers bite on the sweep action far more often than safeties in deep zone shells

Use this on early downs or short yardage to keep defenses honest, since the sweep is a legitimate explosive run threat if the edge sets up
