RPO Orbit Zone Peek is a run-pass option out of Shotgun Doubles Offset Wk that pairs an inside zone run with a peek route (usually a slot receiver sitting in the flat or working an option route) and orbit motion across the formation to help identify the defense before the snap. Beware of a hard edge blitz from the side away from the peek route, since it can beat the zone run's timing before the RPO read even develops, so have a quick game answer or hot route ready if you see edge pressure showing pre-snap.

Usage Tips

Use the orbit motion pre-snap to bait linebackers into flowing with the motion man, which opens up the peek throw or the backside cutback lane on the zone run.

Key the flat defender and the second level linebacker closest to the peek route, if either one steps up to fill the run fit, pull the ball immediately for the easy completion.

This play shines on early downs (1st and 10, 2nd and short to medium) because both the run and pass options are low risk, letting you stay ahead of the chains.
