Usage Tips

Call this play in red zone and fringe fade situations, especially inside the 10 yard line where the fade route becomes a true jump ball throw with no safety help over the top

Check the corner's alignment before the snap, if he is playing off coverage with a cushion, hot route the fade to a slant or use a different play since the corner has time to recover on the vertical

Look for single high safety shells like Cover 1 or Cover 3, since the fade only has to beat one defender and the deep half or deep third assignment on the opposite side leaves your receiver isolated

If the defense shows two high safeties pre snap, be ready to check down quickly to the HB seam route or the TE drag, because Cover 2 or Cover 4 will roll a safety over the top of the fade

Pair this play with Fade Stop or Slot Screen from the same set to keep defenders honest, since Slot Fade punishes aggressive corners while those plays punish undisciplined underneath defenders

Use your best route runner or highest catch rating receiver on the fade release, and place the ball high and outside with a lob or touch throw so only your receiver can make the play
