The backside receiver runs a corner route stemming vertically before breaking outside, the middle receiver runs a deep vertical seam, and the underneath receiver runs a flat route that flat outs to the sideline, creating a high low low flood read on one side. The lone receiver to the open side runs a comeback out route at intermediate depth, giving the QB a bailout option away from the flood. This is a classic Cover 3 beater since it floods one third of the field with three levels, forcing the corner and flat defender to choose who to cover while the seam route splits the middle defender, and the primary read progression goes flat to corner to seam based on how the zone defender leverages the flat.

Defensive Reads

Identify single high safety pre-snap since Cover 3 defenses struggle to defend all three flood levels with only one deep third defender and one flat defender.
