This play struggles against a two high shell with safeties sitting deep, the post has nowhere to go and the quarterback should check down to the drag or flat immediately. Beware of a robber or lurk defender sitting in the middle of the field disguised pre-snap, he can jump the post route if the quarterback stares it down too long.

Usage Tips

Use the motion pre-snap to bait the defense into revealing man coverage, if the defender follows the motion man across the formation you know it is man and the deep post has a clean angle to win.

Take the deep post shot on early downs or after establishing the run so the safety is not sitting deep expecting the shot play.
