Breakdown

Hammer 0 Blast is a Cover 0 zero blitz out of the 4-3 Under Base 4-3 personnel, not an offensive play. The diagram shows five defenders at the line with straight downhill blitz arrows, sending an all out pass rush with zero deep safety help. Behind the rush, five defenders (the X markers) are locked into press or tight man coverage across the formation with no free safety hovering over the top, meaning every eligible receiver is covered one on one while the extra rushers create a numbers advantage against the offensive line. The primary defensive read progression is get the fastest possible pressure to the quarterback while trusting man corners and the slot defenders to hold up in isolation until the ball is forced out.

Defensive Reads

Pre-snap, check for empty backfield or spread bunch formations that signal quick game concepts designed to beat man coverage before the rush arrives. Look at safety depth, if the offense expects two deep safeties they may be caught off guard by the zero blitz look showing no help over the top. Post-snap, key the running back and tight end releases immediately since they are the most common outlets against max pressure looks. Watch for a hot route audible from the offense right after the snap, quick slants and speed outs are the fastest way to beat man coverage on Hammer 0 Blast. If the quarterback gets the ball out in under two seconds, this call will not generate pressure in time, save it for third and long or when you sense play-action or a deep drop.

Usage Tips

Only call Hammer 0 Blast when you have a clear pre-snap numbers advantage or know the quarterback holds the ball, since this is a zero blitz with no safety help over the top.

Identify empty or spread formations before the snap, this play punishes offenses that cannot get hot route protection adjustments off in time against extra rushers.

Use your user controlled defender to spy or blitz through the biggest interior gap, then let the AI defenders hold their man assignments so you can generate a home run hit or forced turnover.

Pair this call with Cover 1 Hole Press or Free Fire earlier in a series to condition the offense into expecting standard man coverage, then dial up Hammer 0 Blast to catch them off guard on third and long.

Avoid using this on obvious screen or RPO downs, quick game beaters and screens will gash a zero blitz if your defenders bite on the rush.
