Free Fire Ls is a man pressure blitz out of the 4-3 Under Base personnel that sends extra rushers off the edge and through interior gaps while playing Cover 1 man behind it with a robber or "L" shaped rush lane design. The blocking scheme for the offense has to account for a five or six man pressure package, so this is built to overload protection and force a quick, incorrect decision from the quarterback. As a defensive playcall, the primary read progression for the user is to identify the free rusher created by the overload, control that defender manually, and time the blitz to hit as the quarterback hits the top of his drop, with the deep man defender serving as the last line of defense against a broken protection big play.
Pre-snap, check for a single high safety and tight corner alignment which confirms the Cover 1 shell this blitz is built around. If the offense shows a running back staying in to block or a tight end sliding to the rush side, expect the protection to pick up the overload and consider countering with a different blitz next series. Post-snap, key the running back's release, if he leaks out to the flat immediately that is the quarterback's outlet against the blitz, so a user spy or lurking linebacker underneath can bait that throw into a pick. This call gets exposed by hot routed slants and quick outs since the man corners are isolated with no immediate help, so watch for receivers breaking inside or outside within the first two steps. If the quarterback is in shotgun with quick play action, respect the run fake since the blitz can overrun the mesh point and open a cutback lane for a big gain.
Call this on third and medium to third and long when you expect a passing down and want to force a negative play or sack.
Use pre-snap motion adjustments on offense to identify if the defense shows Cover 1 shell with a single high safety, since that tips you off to the man blitz look before the snap.
User the free rusher created by the Ls stunt and time your manual jump to hit the gap the instant the ball is snapped, do not let the AI take this rusher since it will loop too wide.
Pair this call with Cover 1 Hole and Cover 1 Hole Press earlier in a series so the quarterback sees the same shell and gets comfortable, then dial up Free Fire Ls to punish him for holding the ball.
Avoid calling this against empty backfield sets or heavy shotgun spread since extra hot route options and quick game concepts can beat the blitz before your rush arrives.
