Four Verticals out of Doubles Y Off WK sends all four eligible receivers vertically up the seams and numbers, stretching the defense from sideline to sideline at the deepest levels. This is a classic Cover 2 and Cover 3 beater, designed to attack the seams before the safeties can rotate over the top or the deep third defenders can gain depth. The primary read progression starts with the seam route to the play side, then works to the middle read (often the TE or slot vertical) if the safety bites on the seam, and finally to the backside vertical as a hot read against man coverage.

Check the safety alignment before the snap, two high safeties tell you Cover 2 is likely in play and the seams will be your bread and butter read
Against single high looks, key the middle of the field defender and target whichever vertical route he vacates first
Use hot routes to convert one of the outside verticals into a comeback or dig if you see press man coverage with no help over the top
This play thrives on third and long or two minute drill situations where defenses commit to zone drops and rush lanes get predictable
Pair Four Verticals with Slants or Double Slants earlier in the drive to bait linebackers into shallow drops, then hit the seams once they start jumping underneath routes
Sequence this play after PA Slide or PA Read to get safeties cheating up on run action, then punish them with the vertical stretch
