End Around Lead out of Singleback Bunch is a designated run play built to get an outside receiver moving laterally at full speed with a lead blocker in front of him. The diagram shows the receiver aligned wide on the backside motioning across the formation, taking the handoff, and cutting upfield behind a lead blocker who releases from the bunch to seal the edge, while the offensive line down blocks to sell inside zone action first. The primary read progression starts with the lead blocker's kick out or seal block on the edge defender, then bounces outside if the alley is clogged, and cuts up through the crease created by the down blocks if the defense overplays the edge.
Defensive Reads
Watch for defensive ends and outside linebackers staying home instead of crashing down on the initial run fake, this kills the play at the mesh point Key on the flow of the linebackers, if they diagnose the reverse action and flow with the motion man early, this play has no room to develop User a fast linebacker or safety and spy the backfield instead of biting on the down block action, this lets you close the alley before the lead blocker can seal it Look for the offense showing bunch motion pre snap, that is your signal to widen your defensive end and have your corner squeeze the edge Defenses that stack the box with extra run support or play contain-first fronts will consistently blow this play up before the ball carrier turns the corner

Check the box count before the snap, this play needs light boxes or defenses that flow hard away from the bunch side to hit for a big gain
Use the pre-snap motion man's speed rating to your advantage, faster slot or WR options make this play significantly harder for defenders to track in real time
Mix this call with HB Slam or HB Dive from the same set so defenses respect inside run action and commit linebackers before you break out the End Around Lead
Avoid calling this against defenses showing heavy edge contain or a defensive end crashing hard, since the lead blocker cannot always account for disciplined edge defenders
Best used on early downs or in short yardage when defenses are keying pass, and pair it with Pitch WR Reverse later in a series to keep defenses honest against misdirection
