Normal Off Close Wk is the RPO hub of Shotgun 11 personnel. The alignment puts the back offset to one side with the tight end tucked tight to the formation and the weak side receiver brought in close, which compresses the box and shortens every throwing window on the closed side. Compared to spread out Shotgun sets like Wing or Trips, you are not stretching the defense horizontally before the snap. You are inviting the defense to condense with you, then punishing it with quick game and read option triggers off the same look. The tight alignment also means your slot and weak side receiver have inside leverage releases available immediately, which matters when you are trying to hit slants and bubbles before a user defender can close.
The play list is stacked with RPO tags: RPO Peek Slant, RPO Alert Bubble, RPO Power Alert Bubble, RPO Zone Peek, RPO Zone Alert. That gives you five distinct ways to read the box and bail into a throw without ever committing your run blocking. Inside Zone, Inside Zone Split, 0 1 Trap, Counter Y, and HB Base give you a real downhill run tree behind the same personnel, which is why the Power HB and 3DRB tags both apply here. You can run a bruiser on Counter Y and Trap, then sub in a receiving back for HB Slip Screen and the bubble RPOs without changing formation shells.
The passing concepts lean intermediate and structured rather than vertical spam. PA Y Cross and PA Slide give you play action off the zone run action, Levels Mills and Double Post attack split safety looks, Flood Z Drive and Comeback Z Post hit the sideline against soft corners, and Pivot In Seams plus Slants handle man coverage and pressure. The SLWR tag matters because the compressed weak side receiver gets a clean inside release, so putting a speed slot type at that spot isolates him against a linebacker or a nickel who has to respect the run fit on every RPO snap.
Read the box pre snap on every RPO call: if the defense has six or more in the box with a single high safety, alert the bubble or slant. If they are in a light box with two high, hand it off and run Inside Zone or Counter Y.
Hot route your compressed weak side receiver to a drag or slant when you diagnose man coverage, because the inside release plus the tight split gets him across the linebacker's face before the user can jump it.
Use PA Y Cross and PA Slide on second down after you have established Inside Zone and Trap, specifically when your opponent starts blitzing off the edge or user filling the middle.
Save HB Slip Screen for third and medium against heavy pressure looks, and motion the tight end out first if you need to confirm man or zone before committing.
Against two high shells on third down, go to Levels Mills or Double Post and read the middle of the field. If the safeties squeeze the posts, come back to Comeback Z Post and take the sideline throw.
