Wing Trips WK Nasty Mug is one of the most weaponized alignments in the Shotgun family because it stacks three receivers to one side while keeping a wing back tight to the formation on the weak side. The "Nasty" tag pulls the trips bunch in closer to the numbers, which compresses defensive spacing and forces corners into either heavy press or bail technique. The "Mug" element matters just as much: the back is aligned next to the quarterback rather than in a traditional offset position, so you get an extra body for protection or an immediate check release into the flat. That combination gives you a trips side full of crossers, wheels, and flood concepts plus a weak side wing who can be isolated against a linebacker or safety with almost no help.
Read the corner over the outside trips receiver pre snap: if he is pressed with no safety help, go straight to Slants X-Go or a hot routed fade on the weak side wing.
Against single high shells run Flood or Dash Flood and work the three level stretch from flat to deep, using the sideline throw when the corner sinks.
Against two high zone lean on All Curls, Quick Unders, and Quick Short Post to attack the vacated middle before the safeties can rotate down.
Motion the weak side wing across the formation to diagnose man versus zone, then snap immediately to catch the defense in rotation.
Use WR Mid Screen off of repeated vertical shots to punish defenders who start bailing early, and block down the trips side to create the alley.
