This is a quick-hitting man beater designed to win with route angles and separation rather than deep shots, and the primary read progression starts with the inside breaking route on the play side before working outside to the boundary route if the initial window is taken away.

Defensive Reads

Pre-snap, identify a single high safety alignment which confirms Cover 1 or Cover 3, both of which this concept is designed to attack with its quick angled breaks. Watch the depth of the underneath linebackers, if they are sitting shallow in a lurk position they can jump the inside breaking routes and bait a pick six. Post-snap, key the play side cornerback's hips, if he opens up to run with the vertical stem too early the underneath break will be wide open. Beware disguised zone pressure or Cover 3 Buzz Match, if the flat defender sinks into the throwing lane instead of covering the outside receiver, the quarterback needs to reset to the backside route. Usage Tips

Use this play on early downs when you expect Cover 1 or Cover 3 based on a single high safety pre-snap look because the sharp breaking angles create instant separation against trail technique.

Check the leverage of the cornerbacks before the snap, if they are playing inside shade, hot route the outside receiver to a quick out to attack the open grass.

Motion one of the TEs across the formation pre-snap to force the defense to declare man or zone, this is a great way to identify a hidden blitz or a lurking robber defender.

Pair this play with 1 Double Wr1 and 1 Double Wr2 from the same set so the defense sees the same initial alignment but has to defend different release angles, keeping the coverage guessing.

Use it in third and short to medium situations since the routes settle into throwing lanes quickly, giving your quarterback a fast reliable outlet before pressure arrives.
