Dolphins Defense and its sibling cut, NFL Live Dolphins Defense, are the same book in practice: all 308 plays overlap and the two differ by zero sets. There is no hidden formation or bonus blitz package waiting in one version, so pick whichever appears in your menu and spend your prep time on audible packages instead of hunting for a difference that does not exist.
What you actually get is a 308 play defensive book built around sub packages, with 121 Nickel plays across 6 sets making up 39% of the call sheet. Add Dime (39 plays, 13%), 3-3-5 (36 plays, 12%) and 4-2-5 (24 plays, 8%) and roughly 72% of this playbook is a five or six defensive back look. Base 4-3 gets 36 plays across 3 sets and 3-4 gets a single set with 18 plays, which is enough for early down run fits but not enough to build an identity around. The concept list runs heavy man and single high: Cover 1, Cover 1 Hole, Man To Man, LB Blitz, Safety Blitz and Corner Blitz, with Cover 3, Cover 3 Match, Cover 3 Sky and Cover 4 covering the zone side.
The rare piece is 2-5, a 15 play set that shows up in only 12 of the game's 236 playbooks. Five linebacker personnel with Base 5-2 gives you a heavy front that most opponents have never seen and cannot pattern read at a glance, which is real value in a book that is otherwise spread heavy. The game plan this supports is straightforward: live in Nickel, user a defender over the middle, rotate between Cov 1 QB Contain Spy style calls and 3 Deep Blitz pressure, and pull out 2-5 or Goal Line Defense (13 plays across 3 sets) when the field shortens.
Scheme Fit
This book wants man coverage corners with high press, man coverage and acceleration ratings, because Cover 1, 1 Double Wr1 and 1 Double TE are the backbone of a 39% Nickel call sheet. You need a rangy free safety to hold the single high roof and at least one linebacker with real zone coverage and speed to survive as your user defender over the middle, plus a slot corner good enough to justify staying in sub personnel on early downs. Pick Dolphins Defense if you are a user linebacker player who prefers to live in Nickel and Dime, disguise pressure, and only break out 2-5 or Goal Line Defense when the field shortens, and avoid it if your roster is built around a two gap front seven.

Strengths

Weaknesses
- Base run defense is thin with only 36 4-3 plays across 3 sets and a single 3-4 set at 18 plays, so a committed heavy personnel run game on early downs forces you into calls you have not repped.
- Man heavy concept coverage (Cover 1, Cover 1 Hole, Man To Man, 1 Double TE, 1 Double Wr1) means mesh, drive and pick route combos hit hard if your user is not manually taking away the crosser every snap.
- Goal Line Defense is only 13 plays across 3 sets and Prevent is 6 plays in one set, so short yardage and two minute situations give you very few distinct looks to rotate through.
- With 39% of the book in Nickel, an opponent who charts your calls will know your personnel before the play clock starts and can motion to overload the weak side of your sub package.
- The 2-5 set is 15 plays only, so once an opponent adjusts to the heavy front you do not have the volume there to keep winning with it.
Usage Tips
Build your primary audible package entirely inside Nickel since 6 sets and 121 plays live there, pairing a Cover 1 Contain, a Cover 3 Sky and a Casino Blitz off the same formation for every second and medium down.
Save Dime (2 sets, 39 plays) and Big Quarter 3-1-7 for third and 8 or longer, and hot route your single linebacker to a spy against any scrambling quarterback rather than calling a separate spy play.
Use 3-3-5 (36 plays across 2 sets) on second and 6 to 8 where you need to defend the run and the intermediate pass from one look, then rotate to 4-2-5 Big Nickel when the offense goes to a tight end heavy set.
Reach for 2-5 with Base 5-2 personnel on third and 1, fourth and 1 and goal line backed situations where the offense expects your sub package, since only 12 playbooks in the game carry this look.
Keep 4-3 (3 sets, 36 plays) and the single 3-4 set as your first down run answers against 21 and 12 personnel, and shift the defensive line inside before the snap rather than calling a new play.
