Defensive Reads
Key the outside receivers first, if both release vertically into the deep thirds your deep defenders need to stay disciplined and not bite on any underneath crossing action. Watch the two shallow crossing routes working from the slots toward the middle, these are designed to sit down in the soft zone between your underneath defenders so close the throwing lanes with your linebackers dropping to depth. Identify the flat route and checkdown release out of the backfield early, the cloud corner technique means your slot defender should already be leveraged outside to squeeze this route before it develops.
