Post-snap, track the quarterback's eyes to the flat, since the slot corner zone drops are designed to squeeze quick game throws to the boundary before the rush arrives. This beats teams that rely on five step drop dropback passing concepts or slow developing play-action, since the cross-stunt disrupts protection timing before routes can breathe. It struggles against quick game RPOs and screens, so if you see run action combined with a bubble or slot screen alert, be ready to peel off the blitz with your flat defenders.
Usage Tips
Call this on third and medium to third and long when you expect the offense to hold protection for a deep shot, since the extra rushers force quick decisions.
Pre-snap, check if the offense has max protection or a six man protection scheme, because that tells you Edge Blitz 3 will win outside before the interior stunt even gets home.
User the middle linebacker in his hook drop if you see a tight end or running back releasing into the shallow crosser, since the zone drop leaves a soft spot right behind the rush.
