Dbl Safety Blitz brings both safeties down into the box off the diagram, adding two extra rushers to the front while the three linebackers spike downhill from depth, giving you a five and six man pressure look out of Nickel 3-3 Over. Post-snap, if the quarterback climbs the pocket instead of stepping up into the rush lane, your spy or the trailing linebacker needs to close fast since there is no deep help behind this blitz. This beats slow developing play action and deep drop back concepts but gets exposed by quick game, screens, and hot routes that attack the vacated intermediate zones instantly.

Usage Tips

Use this on third and long or in two minute situations when you know the offense has to hold the ball for a deeper route and cannot check into a quick game answer.

Pre-snap, motion the offense with a receiver or back to confirm man versus zone before you commit, because if the defense shows blitz and the QB has a hot route to the vacated area you will get burned instantly.

Combine this with Cover 1 LB Blitz or Edge Blitz 0 in the same set so the offense cannot key blitz tells purely off safety depth, since both safeties are already down here.

User the middle rusher through the vacated A gap since that is your fastest interior pressure path and can bait a bad throw under duress.

Save this call for after you have shown a soft zone shell like Cover 3 Cloud or Cover 2 Roll earlier in the game so the sudden two safety crash catches the offense off guard.
