Watch for a user controlled defender spying the QB on the play action boot, since disciplined defenses will hold a linebacker at home to take away the throwback options. This concept beats single high shells like Cover 3 and Cover 1 that bite hard on run action, but it struggles against Cover 4 or Cover 2 looks where the corner stays deep and disciplined. Man coverage with an aggressive blitz off the edge is the biggest threat here, since the protection is built for the run fake read and can be beaten before the route develops if the QB does not get the ball out quickly.
