Defensive Reads

Use pre-snap motion or a shift to identify if the defense is in a run-heavy front like 4-3 or a light box before snapping this play.

Look for the count of defenders in the box: if the defense has six or fewer defenders down low, HB Power O should win consistently against the pulling guard's kick out block.

Hot route the backside receiver into a quick slant or drag if you see man coverage so you have a checkdown if the run gets read early by the linebackers.

Pair this play with HB Dive or HB Duo from the same Wing Stack set to keep the defense guessing between gap and zone run schemes without changing personnel.

Use HB Power O on first and second down in short yardage or goal line situations where defenses are more likely to sell out against outside runs and leave the interior vulnerable to the pulling lineman.
