Y Off Trio Close WK is a condensed 11 personnel look that stacks three receivers tight to one side with the tight end offset in the backfield next to the quarterback. The "Close" spacing is the differentiator from standard Y Off Trio sets: your trio splits sit inside the numbers, which compresses the coverage and forces defenders into traffic on every crossing and mesh concept. The offset Y gives you a second protector, a swing/flat option, or a pull blocker depending on the call, so the same alignment covers HB Power O, Mtn Duo, and a full menu of drop back passing without any personnel tell.
The route library in this set is built around the Mtn (mesh/mountain) family. Mtn Fork Dagger, Mtn Mesh Z Rail, Mtn Mesh Flood, and Empty Mtn Mesh Flat all attack man coverage with rub action inside, while Mtn X-Dig Slot Corner, Mtn Out Deep Corner, Smash Return, and Flood give you high/low and corner/flat answers against zone shells. The Empty variants (Empty Mtn Sprint Stick, Empty Mtn Flood H-Trail) motion the Y out and turn the set into a five wide spacing look, which is where a slot-heavy receiver corps really eats. Play-action pieces like Mtn PA Cross Switch and Mtn PA X Over cash in your run rep on Inside Zone Split and Duo.
Because the trio is compressed, the single receiver on the backside is fully isolated with a huge field of grass. The SLWR and 3DRB tags mean your best route runner in the slot and a pass-catching back both have dedicated spots, and the Power HB tag signals the gap scheme run game is legitimate from this alignment. Check the backside safety rotation pre-snap: if he shades the trio, your X on an iso hot route (streak, fade, or slant) is the fastest answer in the set.
Read the backside safety before the snap, if he cheats toward the trio, hot route the single receiver to a fade or slant and take the isolation throw instead of working the mesh
Against man coverage use Mtn Mesh Z Rail or Empty Mtn Mesh Flat and let the rub do the work, throw the rail or the flat depending on which defender gets caught in traffic
On third and medium go to Mtn Slot Choice or Empty Mtn Sprint Stick, give your best slot receiver the option route and throw off his break rather than the play art
When you see press and heavy interior pressure, check to HB Slip Screen, Snag HB Flat, or Mtn RPO Alert Swing to get the ball out fast and punish vacated middle zones
Establish Mtn Inside Zone Split, Mtn Duo, and HB Power O early so Mtn PA Cross Switch and Mtn PA X Over pull linebackers and open the deep crossers later in the game
Against Cover 3 or Cover 4 lean on Flood, Dash Flood, and Smash Return, work the corner/flat high low and let the defender declare before you commit
