Check the slot cornerback pre-snap, if he is playing tight inside leverage the choice route should break outside for separation Watch for a linebacker or safety sitting in the shallow hole since this indicates zone coverage and the choice route needs to settle in the open window rather than break sharply Identify Cover 3 shells with a deep middle safety, this coverage is vulnerable to the choice route settling underneath the flat defender before the corner can close Man coverage with press alignment on the outside receivers signals a favorable choice route matchup since the slot defender is isolated without safety help Watch for a nano blitz or overload pressure off the edge, if the protection cannot account for extra rushers get the ball out quickly to the choice route or checkdown before the pocket collapses
