Jet Pass Fk Zone is a play-action style pass off jet motion out of the Shotgun Stack Y Off set with 11 personnel. The diagram shows the outside receivers on both sides running vertical seams to hold the deep defenders, while the boundary receiver runs a shallow drive across the field, following the fake jet action to sell the run before working underneath. This is a zone beater designed to attack linebackers and zone defenders who bite on the run fake, and the primary read progression starts with the shallow crosser underneath before working back to the vertical seam if the zone drops out and creates a window.
Defensive Reads
Watch for linebackers who bite hard on jet motion flow, since that opens the shallow crosser for an easy completion underneath. Identify two-high safety shells before the snap, as those safeties will sit on the vertical seam routes and limit the deep option. Look for zone defenders who widen with the motion man, which creates natural throwing lanes over the middle for the crosser. If the defense runs a Cover 3 or Cover 4 zone match with disciplined linebacker drops, the underneath crosser gets taken away and you must climb the ladder to the seam. Beware of user-controlled defenders spying the crosser or sitting in a shallow zone lurk, since that is the main way this concept gets picked off in competitive play.
Usage Tips
Use this play in run-heavy jet motion sequences so the fake jet action actually holds linebackers and freezes flow to the motion side.
Call this on early downs or in run-and-shoot tendencies where you have already established the actual jet sweep or PA Jet Sweep from this set to sell the fake.
Read the second level pre-snap: if linebackers are shading hard to the jet motion side, the shallow crosser will have a clean throwing lane once the ball is snapped.
Combine with RPO Alert Out or RPO Zone Alert Omaha earlier in a series so defenders start respecting the run and RPO looks, making the fake jet action in this play even more effective.
If the defense shows zone shell with deep safeties, prioritize the underneath crosser first since the seam routes are more likely to be capped by two-high safety help.
