Fake Jet Pass Power is a play-action pass out of Shotgun Stack Y Off that opens with jet motion across the backfield to sell the sweep before the QB pulls it back and rolls out. The diagram shows a shallow crosser working from the backfield motion man, the running back releasing to the flat, and a receiver breaking underneath in the middle of the field, all designed to hit quickly off the play-action rollout. The line slides to protect the rollout direction, and the primary read progresses from the flat route to the shallow crosser as the QB works outside the pocket.
Aggressive run blitzes and linebackers who bite hard on jet motion are the biggest weakness this play exploits, since the play-action freezes them out of position. Watch for a flat defender sitting low pre-snap, that usually signals zone coverage and tells you to work the shallow crosser instead of forcing the flat throw. Man coverage with a linebacker manually spying the QB rollout can shut this down quickly, since the crosser has nowhere to separate against a shadowing defender. Cover 3 and Cover 4 shells with disciplined linebackers who stay home against the run fake take away the easy read and force a checkdown or scramble. If the defense shows a boundary blitz toward the rollout side, expect the edge to be unblocked and be ready to throw quickly or cut the play short.
Use the jet motion pre-snap to bait linebackers into flowing hard toward the sweep side, then attack the vacated area with the rollout.
This play works best on early downs or third and short when defenses are keyed on run action and biting on the fake jet sweep.
Check the flat defender before the snap. If a corner or linebacker sits low expecting the sweep, hit the shallow crosser instead of the flat route.
Pair this with PA Jet Sweep and Jet Touch Pass earlier in a series so the defense over commits to run action, making this play-action shot more effective later.
Roll out with the QB manually if the primary read is covered, since the design gives you an extra half second to find the crosser or check down to the flat.
