Mtn H Sneak lines up out of Shotgun Split Y Off with 21 personnel and uses a pre-snap motion tag to shift the backfield alignment before the snap. Off the snap, the two outside receivers on the strong side run a vertical clear out and a deep in route to occupy the safeties and linebackers over the middle of the field, while the flanker on the weak side runs a shallow drag underneath. The running back releases into the boundary flat off a check release, giving the quarterback a horizontal stretch read from the flat to the shallow drag as the primary progression, with the deep in route as a shot play answer if the coverage bites on the underneath routes. Usage Tips

Use the pre-snap motion to identify if the defense is in man or zone, since a defender following the motion man across the formation confirms man coverage and opens up the shallow drag immediately.

Attack this play on second and short or third and short since the quick flat and drag combo gets the ball out fast and picks up positive yardage against aggressive underneath coverage.

Hot route the check release running back into a wheel route if you diagnose zone coverage post snap, turning the flat read into a vertical shot against a linebacker who cannot keep pace.

Pair this play with Mtn Lead Swing and Mtn Lead Swing Spacing earlier in a drive so defenders start jumping the swing action, then hit them with the drag and deep in combo here for a bigger explosive play.

Snap the ball quickly after motion to prevent the defense from adjusting their linebacker depth and shell rotation, since a late snap gives zone defenders time to reset their landmarks.
