Fake Screen Wheel

Fake Screen Wheel is a play-action screen play out of Shotgun Slot Right that disguises a wheel route behind a fake bubble screen action. The diagram shows the outside receiver sitting at the line before wheeling vertically up the sideline while the slot receiver fakes the screen action, sliding in then bouncing back out to sell the quick throw before the ball actually goes to the wheel man. On the backside, the lone receiver runs a straight vertical route to hold the deep defender and clear space for the wheel. The primary read progression starts with the fake screen action to freeze linebackers and underneath defenders, then progresses to the wheel route as the number one option once the corner or nickel bites on the screen fake.
